Next Sunday is WORLD YOUTH SUNDAY - a unique opportunity to celebrate the role and significance of young people in the Catholic Church. There will be a second collection to support the work of the Brentwood Catholic Youth Service, as well as the opportunity to hear more about their work. Find out more at www.bcys.net , searching @brentwoodcys or if you are able to donate online, please visit www.bcys.net/donate. Thank you.
Envelopes in which to place the names of loved ones who have died and who you would like included on the list are at the back of the church. Masses will be said here and elsewhere for the repose of their souls. The envelopes may be returned either in the collection or through the presbytery letterbox.
This programme will commence in the New Year. Application forms are available at the back of the church. Please ensure a copy of the child’s baptismal certificate is attached to the form if they were not baptised in this parish. Completed forms should be posted through the presbytery letterbox. Any child in Year 3 and above in September 2024 who lives in the parish and attends Mass is eligible for First Holy Communion. Those who live outside the parish must obtain the permission of their own parish priest before applying.
Copies of Cardinal Nichols’ pastoral letter are available at the back of the church. It is the poor, weak and voiceless who will be put in danger of undue pressure and even coercion. Please write to your MP in your own words expressing your opposition to this unwelcome and dangerous innovation. [Please be aware that our MP in Ilford North, Wes Streeting, the Secretary of State for Health, has indicated that he will vote against the bill]. “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing.”
Next Sunday is World Mission Sunday and the Holy Father invites all Catholics to support Missio, his charity for world mission and of which Fr Anthony Chantry is director, through a special day of prayer. This day of prayer, solidarity, and giving unites Catholics worldwide to share the Good News of God’s love which has the power to transform lives and heal our world. To donate, use the Missio envelopes, call 020 7821 9755 (office hours) or visit missio.org.uk to give a gift, set up a Direct Debit, and Gift Aid your donation if possible.
Daniel, a young man in Democratic Republic of the Congo, is carving a better future for his family with carpentry skills he learned in a CAFOD-funded training centre. Give to CAFOD next week and you’ll fund training, tools, equipment and safe spaces so more people like Daniel can learn new skills and fulfil their God-given potential. Use the envelope in church or give online at cafod.org.uk/envelope .
